words of mine inspired by the song and the feelings that it emulates:

I think sometimes
that a memory can eat you alive
with its vivacity, its color - the imagined brightness and saturation of it all.

Dead leaves being plucked from the ground and expected to replenish themselves on broken branches.

Something once untouched,
now tarnished.
Crumpled like paper.

I believe some things aren’t meant to be smoothed out and minted again,
but rather,
to be left in pieces -
to be whole again.
